Smoothies for Breakfast

I've never been one to sit down and eat a bowl of cereal or make a meal for breakfast.  However, I have recently begun making myself a smoothie each morning and it is going well so far.  I'm snacking less during work and enjoying the added benefits of plenty of vitamins and minerals as I start my day.  The thing that has been most helpful so far is preparation.  On Saturday, I went to Trader Joe's for the first time in my life and it was fantastic!  I found coconut water for $2.99/container, even the big box stores nearby don't have it for less than $4.  Bananas were also at a pretty good price at $.16 (regular)-.26 (organic) each.  A bag of organic kale was $2.79 and there was enough for at least 10 smoothies.  There were also boxes of nectarines- 5.99 for 4 pounds.  I will definitely be making Trader Joe's a regular trip (most likely monthly to bi-monthly given the commute).

Mango Island: 1 banana (peeled, quartered and frozen), 3/4-1 cup frozen kale, 1/2 cup frozen mango chunks, 3/4-1 cup coconut water.  Put banana, kale and mango in blender.  Blend until the big pieces are broken up.  Add coconut water and blend until smooth.  Serve immediately.

Fruity Kale: 1/2 frozen banana (peeled), 1 handful of frozen blueberries, 2 handfuls frozen kale, 1 handful frozen mango, coconut water.  Put fruit in blender, blend until pieces are broken up.  Add coconut water and blend until smooth.  Serve immediately.
